Wire Love

Mit Draht habe ich ja schon ganz viel gearbeitet und immer wieder kommen mir neue Ideen, was man damit alles machen kann.

Well, I've already worked quite a bit with wire and I keep getting new ideas what to do with this material.

Auf Pinterest habe ich vor einer Weile eine süße Idee gepinnt, ich hatte einen Schriftzug aus Draht gesehen. Gestern, ganz spontan hatte ich beim Aufräumen so ein Stück Draht in der Hand und dann ging alles wie von selbst ;-). Natürlich will ich Euch das Ergebnis nicht vorenthalten. So als erstes Stück, frei Hand und ohne Vorlage ist es mir doch ganz gut gelungen. Senkrecht sieht es zuerst wie ein schönes verschnörkeltes Muster aus, aber wenn Ihr genauer hinschaut könnt es ohne Probleme lesen.

A little while ago I pinned a cute idea on pinterest, a wired word. Yesterday, while cleaning up I came across a piece of wire and just had to give it a try ;-). Of course you get to see what I made. Here is my first piece, straight from my head, no model or mold. I think this turned out nicely. Hanging vertical it looks like an artful pattern, but if you look a little closer you can read the word easily. 

 

Der Schriftzug ist gleich in meinen Shop gewandert und ein paar Andere sind dann auch noch entstanden.

Denim love and you are sweet!

Hallo Ihr Lieben, da bin ich wieder ;-).

Ich war ja sowas von hinüber letzte Woche und heute hört meine Nase gar nicht auf zu laufen, mensch, bleibt mir auch nichts erspart. Die Ferien sind jedenfalls überstanden und das Schlimmste der Erkältung ebenfalls. Ganz wichtig bei meinen Räuberkindern, die Stimme ist wieder da ;-).

Dann möchte ich mich ganz doll für Eure lieben Kommentare und Genesungswünsche bedanken!!! Und weil ich zur Zeit einfach nicht hinterher komme - bitte entschuldigt, dass ich mich nicht bei jedem persönlich melden kann, die letzte Woche fehlt mir total - freue ich mich ganz doll, dass ich wieder ein paar Leser mehr habe :-) - herzlich willkommen!!!

Und dann habe ich noch ein kleines Projekt, dass schon vor einiger Zeit fertig geworden ist, das ich aber noch nicht gepostet habe. Dieses süße Frühstücksset ist neulich 'mal als spontanes Mitbringsel entstanden.

Hi there, I'm back again ;-).


You can't imagine how wasted I have been from this ugly cold this past week. And today my nose just won't stop running. Can't I get a break for once. Well the school holidays and the worst of the cold are over now. And most importantly with my 3 rascals - my voice is back ;-).


I really want to say thank you for your sweet comments and get well wishes!!! And since I'm way behind with everything - I apologize for not being able to get back to every one of you individually, these extra days threw me behind so much - I want to tell you how happy I am for every one of my new readers :-)  - welcome, so nice to meet you!!!


And then there is this small project that I made a while ago, that I did not get to post yet. I made this cute breakfast set as a gift to take along when we were invited for dinner the other day. 



 

Den Beutel für die Frühstücksbrötchen habe ich aus einem Stück Jeanshosenbein genäht...
I made this bag for breakfast rolls from the leg of an old pair of jeans....




... und mit blau/weiss kariertem Baumwollstoff gefüttert.
... and lined it with blue/white checkered cotton fabric. 



Und weil ja "bald" Ostern ist, gab's noch ein paar passende Eierwärmer dazu. Sind die Häschen nicht niedlich geworden? Ein paar davon wandern demnächst in meinen Shop ;-).

And since it will be Easter "soon", I threw in some matching egg warmers as well. Don't you love these cute bunnies? Some will "hop" into my little shop soon as well ;-). 



Ich wünsch Euch noch eine wunderschöne Woche. Heute ist es auch bei uns grau und trüb, da fällt der Einstieg in den Alltag noch mal so schwer :-(. Aber wir lassen uns nicht unterkriegen, oder, der Frühling ist auf dem Weg ;-), ich schmeiß mich jetzt auch gleich in ein frühlingsfrisches Outfit und dann geht's los, denn schon in einer Stunde ist der Erste wieder zu Hause ;-). Fasching weissbunt - Carnival a la "weissbunt"

Und hier noch kurz ein paar Rosenmontagsbildchen. Es gab Konfetti Waffeln zum Mittagessen ;-).
And here I've got some Monday pictures for you. We had confetti waffles for Lunch ;-). 



Ich habe statt regulärem Zucker einfach ein paar bunte Zuckerstreusel in den Teig gemischt.
I just substituted the regular sugar with some colorful sugar sprincles.



Und nachmittags haben wir Masken aus alten Cornflakesboxen gebastelt. Ach ja, leere Schokokuss Boxen eigenen sich auch prima, denn die Metallikbeschichtung macht echt was her. Die Jungs haben Superhelden/-schurken Masken gebastelt, die leider nicht zeigen darf ;-).

And in the afternoon we crafted some masks from old cereal boxes. If you have empty boxes with metalic coating you can use them for a cool superhero look. The boys made some, but I'm not allowed to post pics ;-). 





Die Masken haben wir mit Papier, Glitzersteinen und Federn beklebt.
We decorated the masks with paper, gemstones and feathers.

Jetzt muss ich mich aber ganz schnell verabschieden, denn die Rasselbande nörgelt schon ;-). Hier sind ja Ferien und bis auf Papa (der muss leider arbeiten) sind alle Mann/Mädels ;-) zu Hause. Faschingsmäßig läuft nicht so viel, denn leider hat mich eine böse Erkältung fest im Griff, die Stimme ist auch weg - war ja klar dass das ausgerechnet jetzt sein musste :-(.  Ein Bisschen Spaß muss natürlich trotzdem sein, aber davon mehr beim nächsten Mal ;-). But now I really got to go, the "wild things" are already complaining ;-). They are all home on vacation, except for Daddy who has to work unfortunately. We don't get to celebrate the last days of Carnival a lot 'cause I'm out sick with a bad cold and no voice - of course that had to happen now :-(. Tutorial: Schmetterlingslesezeichen - Butterfly bookmarks

Heute hatten wir so schönen Sonnenschein, dass ich gleich noch etwas frühlingshaftes für Euch gebastelt habe. Und eine ganz tolle Recyclingidee ist's obendrein. Wir haben ja so viel mit der Schmetterlingsstanze gemacht  - hier und hier zum Beispiel - und unter Anderem auch Trennstreifen aus Pappe gestanzt. Aus diesen Resten und ein bisschen Kram aus der Gruschelschublade sind diese hübschen Lesezeichen entstanden. Falls Ihr ein Laminiergerät habt oder durchsichtige, selbstklebende Folie, könnt Ihr die Lesezeichen noch etwas langlebiger machen ;-).

Today we had plenty of beautiful sunshine and so I did a little spring craft I want to share with you. It's also a great recycling idea. We have used the butterfly punch so often lately - like here and here - and have also punched some "cardboard seperation strips". I used the leftovers and some stuff from the   crafting drawer to make some pretty bookmarks. If you have a laminating machine or clear selfadhesive foil you can make the bookmarks more durable ;-). 



Ihr braucht:

Einen Trennstreifen aus Pappe, bzw. einen schon gestanzten Rest (siehe weiter unten)
Eine Stanze (oder eben nur die Reste vom Stanzen)
Schönes Papier, Pappe, Stoff oder was Ihr sonst so rumliegen habt als "Füllung"
Eine Schere
Bastelkleber (ohne Abb.)
Klebeband, Washi-tape, etc.
Kordel oder irgend ein anderes hübsches Band

You need:


some "cardboard separation strips" or just the punched leftovers (see below)
a pretty crafting punch (or just the leftovers from punching)
pretty paper, cardboard, fabric, or whatever else you want to use as a filling
scissors
crafting glue (no pic.)
scotch- or washi tape, etc.
baker's twine or other pretty ribbon



Schneidet das "Füllmaterial" passend zu. Wenn Ihr es doppelt nehmt, sieht das Lesezeichen von beiden Seiten hübsch aus ;-). Damit's beim Stanzen schneller geht, hatte ich den Trennstreifen schon doppelt genommen. Macht unbedingt einen scharfen Knick in die Mitte, damit das Lesezeichen auch schön flach wird.

Crop your "filler" so it fits the "inside" of your bookmark. Double your material so it's pretty on both sides ;-).  I already folded the cardboard in half for punching, to get more butterflies in less time ;-). Make sure you make a tight fold, so your bookmark will be nice and flat.                                                                                                                                                        



Alle abstehenden Enden gut mit Kleber einstreichen - auf beiden Seiten versteht sich ;-). Wie Ihr unten seht, war ich etwas zu schlampig, darum habe ich abstehende Ecken ;-). Wenn Ihr's zum Schluss laminiert ist das aber egal.

Put some glue on the inside of your bookmark (add glue to both "insides" ;-)). As you can see in the pictures below I was a little sloppy, so I do have loose edges ;-). If you laminate your bookmark at the end you don't need to be so exact.



Mit dem Klebeband einmal ringsum kleben.
Use the tape around all edges. 





Ins ohnehin schon vorhandene Locherloch zieht Ihr noch ein Bändchen ein.
Use the hole that's already in the cardboard strip to attach your ribbon.



Euer Fantasie sind keine Grenzen gesetzt :-).

Bücher über Bücher - Books and more books

 So Ihr Lieben,

das ist einer der Gründe, warum ich irgendwie zur Zeit kaum zum Bloggen komme ;-). Das sind fast alle Bücher, die ich dieses Jahr schon gelesen habe. Und der Stoß ist eigentlich schon wieder um 2 Bücher gewachsen ;-). Alles Recherche, versteht sich ;-), denn ja, mein eigenes Schreibprojekt nimmt gleichzeitig auch konkrete Formen an.

so this is one of the reasons that I don't get to blog a lot at the moment ;-). These are almost all of the books I have already read this year. By now add 2 more books to the pile ;-). All research, of course ;-). My own writing project is taking shape as well. 

Ich habe ja schon mehrfach erwähnt, dass ich momentan ausschließlich fantastische Geschichten lese. Die helfen mir wunderbar dabei mich zu entspannen, denn in einem Haushalt mit 3 wilden Kindern ist der Lärmpegel schon oft hoch ;-). Wenn's gerade 'mal wieder zu viel ist, schicke ich die Rasselbande für 'ne Stunde in Ihre Zimmer und tanke wieder neue Energie beim Lesen. Auch abends genieße ich momentan lieber ein wenig Ruhe mit einem schönen Buch.

I mentioned a couple of times, that I only read fantastic stories at the moment. They really help me unwind. In a household with three wild kids the noise is sometimes overwhelming ;-). If it gets too much, I just send them up to their rooms for an hour or so and use this time to recharge my batteries reading. When the kids are in bed I prefer a nice quiet read, too. 

Falls Ihr meine Liebe zu fantastischer Lektüre teilt, kann ich Euch all diese Bücher durchaus empfehlen. Ein echter Fehlgriff war definitiv nicht dabei, aber auch ich habe meine Lieblinge, die mir besonders Spaß gemacht haben. Meine persönlichen Favoriten sind:

Die for me (spielt in Paris, das macht Frühlingslaune)
Desires of the Dead (Band 2 der Body Finder Bücher)
Clockwork Prince (leider muss ich da noch lange auf Nachschub warten, denn Cassandra Clare schreibt abwechselnd an 2 Serien (Gegenwart und Vergangenheit) zum gleichen Thema
Starcrossed (eine Neuentdeckung ;-))

If you share my love for fantastic books, I can really recommend all these. None of them was a waste of time, although I have my favorites, that I enjoyed in particular. My faves are:


Die for me (it's set in Paris/France, that certainly gets you in a spring mood)
Desires of the Dead (body finder book 2)
Clockwork Prince (unfortunately Cassandra Clare is writing on 2 series at the same time (present and past), so I'll have to wait for the next book in this series until next year :-()
Starcrossed (a new discovery ;-))


Weniger gefallen, haben mir die "Hunger Games" Bücher. Weil sie zur Zeit so populär sind und auch der erste Film bald in die Kinos kommt, habe ich mich lange davor gedrückt, aber aus eben diesen Gründen musste ich sie doch gelesen haben, um mitreden zu können. Ich fand sie wirklich gut geschrieben, aber gerade der letzte Band befasst sich mit der Realität von Kriegen so realistisch, dass er mich emotional total runtergezogen hat. Ich würde diese düstere Zukunftsfantasie absolut in die Schublade "1984" schieben. Trotzdem habe ich es nicht bereut, die Bücher sind nur nicht das, was ich  zur Zeit brauche ;-).

I was not too happy with the "Hunger Games" Trilogy. They are so popular at the moment and the first movie will be released soon, so I tried to avoid the books for a long time. But these are also the reasons I had to read them. You can't comment on anything if you don't know what you're talking about. They are really well written and they were fun and exciting to read, too, but Suzanne Collins describes the reality of war so vividly that it really drained me emotionally. This dark dystopic fantasy is right on the lines of "1984" (if you know that book). I still did not regret reading the books, they were just not what I need from a book right now ;-). 

Auch mit "Lucian" habe ich da so meine Probleme. Nach langer Zeit wieder ein deutsches Buch. Der Geschichte fehlt ein Bisschen die Leichtigkeit und Unbefangenheit der englischsprachigen Konkurrenz und am Schluss habe ich doch wirklich geweint. Genauso könntet Ihr aber sagen endlich ein Buch mit mehr Tiefgang, die Geschichte entwickelt sich ganz langsam und kommt ohne Actionsequenzen aus. Jeder muss da seine Prioritäten setzten ;-).

I had the same problem with "Lucian". After reading only in English for quite a while I picked up a German book. The story lacks the lightness of the English competition. I even really cried at the end (of sadness, sorry, I'm totally the emotional type ;-)). But just the same you could say finally a book with a little more depth. The story evolves slowly and makes do without any action sequences. You just got to know what you want from a book ;-). 

Und den Büchern von Alexandra Ardonetto merkt man das junge Alter der Autorin an, finde ich ;-). Was nicht heißen soll, dass das schlecht ist.  Hingegen habe ich als Erwachsene bei den Büchern von Cynthia Hand ein paar Mal laut losgelacht und deutlich weniger mit den Augen gerollt ;-).

And in Alexandra Ardonetto's books, you really notice how young she is as an author, I think ;-), which is not bad really. It's just that if I compare her books to those of Cynthia Hand, I really laughed loud a couple of times in the latter and there was a lot less "rolling my eyes" involved as well ;-). 

Und damit Ihr die Bücher thematisch überhaupt einordnen könnt, habe ich sie schnell für Euch ein wenig gegliedert. Alle Bücher sind auf Ihre Art spannend und mit einer Portion Romantik gewürzt:

Diverse Folgebände sind schon bestellt, die nächsten sind leider erst ab März im Buchhandel erhältlich :-(. Aber freut Euch, dann komme ich hoffentlich wieder mehr zum Handarbeiten und Bloggen ;-). I can highly recommend it, even if you are more interested in deco-/crafting or cook books or prefer reading realistic novels, biographies or crime stories ;-). Tutorial: Herzige Serviettenringe - Napkin hearts

Ein kleines Valentins Tutorial habe ich doch noch für Euch geschafft. Die herzigen Serviettenringe sind ratz-fatz fertig. Ein super schöner Hingucker für's romantische Dinner heute Abend. Ihr könnt das Herz natürlich auch an eine Kette oder an einen Schlüsselanhänger hängen.

I managed to make a little Valentine's Tutorial for you. The cute napkin hearts are finished in no time. They may just be the showstopper  you have been looking for, for tonight's romantic dinner. Or you can hang the heart on a necklace or keychain. 



Damit die Herzform schön zusammenhält, verbindet die Enden einfach mit etwas Heißkleber oder etwas Tesafilm. Dann nehmt eine schöne dicke Wolle. Ich habe eine einfache Filzwolle genommen und mit meiner Lieblings-3,5er Nadel gehäkelt. Einfach ganz einfache feste Maschen häkeln und die Wolle von "hinten" holen.

In order for the heart shape to stay together a little better, join the ends with some hot glue or scotchtape. Then take some thicker wool. I used felting wool and chrochet with my favorite 3,5 hook. Make basic single stitches and "feed" the wool from the back of your heart shape.




Die Enden fixiert Ihr einfach mit etwas Heißkleber oder Nagellack.

Clean up the loose ends with a little hot glue or nail polish. 



Falls Ihr mehr Gäste habt, könnt Ihr ein kleines Namensschild ans Herzchen binden.

To personalize your napkin heart, tie a little name tag to the heart. 



Ach ja, ich verschicke heute stündlich ein wenig Liebe, denn mein Schatz muss "Messedienst" schieben. Bis heute um Mitternacht bekommt er jede Stunde eine kleine Liebesnotiz per Mail auf's Handy ;-).

Das geht natürlich auch am Geburtstag, wenn der Andere geschäftlich unterwegs ist, oder einfach 'mal so ;-). Sonst schmuggle ich in der Regel einen kleinen Liebesbrief mit Fotos und etwas Süßes ins Gepäck ;-). Verschenkt doch auch ein wenig Liebe und das nicht nur heute. Bis bald - maks :-)

Before I forget, today I'm sending out some love by the hour. My sweet hubby has to work on a fair this week, so every hour today I'm sending him a little love note via Mail onto his cellphone ;-).

Gegrillte Hähnchenbrust  mit Kräutern der Provence und ein Bisschen Salz und Pfeffer. Dazu in Olivenöl angeschmorte Kirschtomaten, etwas frischer Parmesan und knackiger Ruccola Salat, mmh.

Grilled chicken breast with herbs provence and a little salt and pepper. "Melt" some cherry tomatoes in olive oil, add parmesan cheese and fresh ruccola salat, mmh. 



...in Pitabrot, pur oder mit Gnocchi, oder einfach wie's Euch gefällt ;-).

...in pita bread, plain or with gnocchi, oder just your way ;-). 



Valentine's S'mores. Ihr braucht kein Lagerfeuer um die Marshmallows zu rösten, eine kleine Kerze tut's auch ;-).

Familienfrühstück mit ein Bisschen Liebe - Family breakfast with a little love

Weil's mir zur Zeit so wunderbar rosarot ist, habe ich meine süße Familie 'mal wieder mit einem besonders liebevollen Sonntagsfrühstück bedacht ;-). Frisch gebackene Brötchen, Rührei und selbstgemachte Erdbeersmoothies, mmh, das war lecker. Und weil ja schon bald Valentinstag ist, haben sich auch ein paar Herzchen in die Deko geschlichen.

I'm in such a pink mood at the moment that I decided to surprise my sweet family again with an especially nice Sunday breakfast ;-). Freshly baked rolls, scrambled eggs and homemade strawberry smoothies, mmh, so yummy. And since Valentine's Day is just around the corner I added some "love" to my tablescape.
